HANBELL HBR-A01 is a mineral grade in HANBELL’s HBR range of screw compressor refrigeration oils — a naphthenic mineral oil, where the HBR-B series is synthetic polyol ester (POE). It is the grade the manufacturer’s own data sheet describes for Hanbell rotary screw compressors in air conditioning and industrial refrigeration, and it is the one to reach for when the compressor documentation specifies a mineral charge rather than an ester. The viscosity is 100 cSt at 40 °C, which falls inside the ISO VG 100 band.
We supply it in 18.9 L pails, on any Incoterms 2020 term — EXW, FOB, CFR, CIF, DDP and every other rule — and payment is on any commonly used method, including T/T, L/C and PayPal. Send the compressor or unit model and the oil you are replacing, and we confirm the base oil type and the grade before quoting.
HANBELL HBR-A01 is supplied on published terms: the pack size, the price terms, the payment terms and the documents are the same for every buyer, and they can be quoted without a site visit. The minimum order is deliberately left open, because it is judged case by case: the grade, the quantity, the pack size, the shipping terms and the container load all move it, so a single pail and a full container load are both workable and neither is treated as the normal case. Send us the quantity, the destination port and whether your own brand goes on the pail, and those three turn the table below into a firm quotation. Documents and lead time work the same way on every order: the technical data sheet and safety data sheet for the grade supplied come with the quotation, and the certificate of analysis for the delivered batch comes with the shipment.

Before you order: send us the compressor or unit model, the refrigerant and the oil you are replacing. The first question is the base oil type — mineral or ester — and it is settled by the compressor manufacturer’s specification for your unit rather than by price or availability.
A lubricant order is rarely only a lubricant order. The buyer is usually solving a grade question, an import documentation question, a freight question and a packaging question at the same time — often across more than one product family. Those are the parts of the job we take on, and they are handled by the same team that quotes the oil rather than passed to a third party.
We are a manufacturer rather than a reseller, which is what makes that possible. The blending plant in Foshan, Guangdong runs at 6,000 tonnes a year and has been producing lubricants for more than ten years, so the answer to most of the questions below comes out of our own production and our own paperwork.
| What you are dealing with | What we do about it |
|---|---|
| You are not sure which grade replaces the oil you are running | Send the compressor or unit model, the refrigerant and the oil being replaced. We confirm the equivalent grade and the changeover procedure before you order, and we put the confirmation in writing so it can be checked against the specification. |
| You need a grade that is not a catalogue item | We formulate in-house. Mineral base oils and additive packages are handled at our own plant, so a viscosity class or a property target can be matched rather than taken from whatever a distributor happens to hold in stock. |
| Your customer wants their own brand on the pail | OEM and ODM are handled end to end — pail artwork, pack format and material selection — so the shipment carries your label. Private-label work is quoted as a project rather than charged as a surcharge line. |
| You are buying across several oil families | Refrigeration oils sit alongside air compressor oils, vacuum pump oils, hydraulic oils, gear oils and engine oils on the same production site. A mixed enquiry can be quoted, packed and shipped together instead of being split across suppliers. |
| Import clearance needs documentation | Every order ships with a technical data sheet, a safety data sheet and a batch certificate of analysis. Export documents — CE, certificate of origin, MSDS and the transport identification report — are issued as standard, not on request. |
| Your quality system needs independent verification | Third-party testing can be arranged on the batch you actually receive — through SGS or another accredited laboratory — and the report is issued against that batch. Where an external report is a condition of purchase, it is built into the order rather than handled afterwards. |
| Freight is the number that decides the deal | We quote against your destination port on any Incoterms 2020 term — EXW, FOB, CFR, CIF, DDP and every other rule — and arrange sea, land, air or express movement. Ask for the CIF or DDP figure to your port — that is the one comparable with a domestic supplier's price. |
| You want to hold stock locally instead of buying container by container | We are recruiting distributors in selected markets and offer market protection to partners who commit to a territory, with technical support and documentation supplied from the plant. |
None of this runs through a separate service department. The same technical contact stays with an account from the first grade question through to repeat orders, which is why a reorder does not start the conversation over again.
If what you need is not described here, send the application rather than the product — the unit, the refrigerant, the operating temperatures and the volume — and we will tell you whether we can make it and what it would take.
Base oil type comes before pricing, because a mineral oil in an ester system is the mistake that costs a compressor. The sequence is the same whether you are buying one pail or a full container:
If you already know the grade and only need a price, send the quantity and the destination port and we will quote directly.
Every row below is reproduced from the HANBELL HBR-A01 product data sheet (revision 2024-02-26).
| Property | Value | Method and source |
|---|---|---|
| Oil type | Naphthenic mineral refrigeration oil | Manufacturer’s data sheet |
| Kinematic viscosity at 40 °C | 100 cSt | ASTM D445 |
| Kinematic viscosity at 100 °C | 8.4 cSt | ASTM D445 |
| Flash point, Cleveland open cup | 182 °C (360 °F) | ASTM D92 |
| Pour point | -24 °C (-31 °F) | ASTM D97 |
| Pack | 5 US gallon (18.9 L) pail (grade code RC-HBR-AO1-5G) | Manufacturer’s data sheet |
About the manufacturer’s figures. The data sheet also carries Saybolt viscosity at two temperatures, viscosity index, density, specific gravity, fire point and dielectric strength. Those six figures are identical, figure for figure, to the six corresponding figures on the sheet published for HANBELL HBR-B09 — an oil of nearly twice the viscosity — and the fire point sits 190 °F above the sheet’s own flash point, where a gap of about 40 °F is normal. The table above carries the rows that reconcile with the rest of the A01 sheet. The class itself is 100 cSt at 40 °C, which falls inside the ISO VG 100 band of 90–110 cSt. If your specification review needs a figure beyond the table, ask us and we will send the data sheet for the grade we actually supply, tested against the delivered batch.
The HANBELL HBR range splits first by base oil type, and that split decides which grade a system can take. The A series is mineral; the B series is synthetic polyol ester (POE). The table places HBR-A01 against the POE grades.
| Grade | Base oil | Viscosity at 40 °C | Typical duty |
|---|---|---|---|
| HANBELL HBR-A01 (this product) | Naphthenic mineral | 100 cSt | Screw compressors where a mineral charge is specified |
| HANBELL HBR-B12 | POE | ISO VG 32 | Centrifugal compressors |
| HANBELL HBR-B05 | POE | ISO VG 68 | Medium and low temperature screw compressors |
| HANBELL HBR-B08 | POE | 127.7 cSt at 40 °C | HFC screw compressor duty in air conditioning and industrial refrigeration |
| HANBELL HBR-B09 | POE | 175.2 cSt at 40 °C | Heavier HFC screw compressor duty |
| HANBELL HBR-B04 | POE | ISO VG 220 | Medium and high temperature screw compressors |
| HANBELL HBR-B01 | POE | ISO VG 320 | Air-cooled and flooded screw compressors — the heaviest grade in the series |
The POE figures are the ones published on those grades’ own data sheets. Mineral and ester oils are not interchangeable, so read this table as a first cut only: confirm the base oil type against the compressor manufacturer’s specification for your model and refrigerant before substituting one grade for another.
The first question on a HANBELL screw compressor is not the viscosity, it is the base oil type, because that decides whether the oil can travel with the refrigerant at all. HFC refrigerants are not miscible with mineral oil: a mineral charge in an HFC circuit does not circulate, the oil collects in the evaporator and the compressor sump runs dry. Polyol ester is miscible with HFCs, which is why the HBR-B series exists. HBR-A01 sits on the other side of that line — it is a naphthenic mineral oil, and it is the grade to use where the compressor documentation specifies a mineral charge.
Naphthenic base stocks are chosen for refrigeration for the same reason they are chosen in other low-temperature work: they stay fluid and they carry a low wax content, so they do not throw wax out of solution at the cold end of the circuit. The trade-off is a lower viscosity index than a paraffinic or an ester stock, which is expected rather than a defect — the class, not the viscosity index, is what a compressor is specified against.
Mixing: oils of the same type and viscosity are compatible and can be mixed. Mineral and ester oils are not. If you do not know what is currently in the system, send us the compressor model and we will confirm the base oil type, the equivalent grade and the changeover procedure before you order.
The manufacturer’s data sheet for HBR-A01 carries twelve property rows. Six of them — Saybolt viscosity at two temperatures, viscosity index, density, specific gravity, fire point and dielectric strength — are identical, figure for figure, to the six corresponding figures on the data sheet for HANBELL HBR-B09, which is an oil of nearly twice the viscosity. Two of them do not agree with the rest of the A01 sheet either: the fire point sits 190 °F above the sheet’s own flash point, where a gap of about 40 °F is normal, and the Saybolt figures correspond to an oil of about twice the viscosity that the kinematic figures describe.
The table above carries the rows that reconcile with the rest of the sheet. If your specification review needs a figure beyond the table, ask us and we will send the data sheet for the grade we actually supply, tested on the delivered batch.
Documentation: the data sheet for the grade we supply is issued against the delivered batch. If a supplier quotes you a viscosity index, a density or a Saybolt figure for this grade, ask which document it came from.
The original HANBELL HBR-A01 is the right choice where the compressor is still under warranty, where the specification names HANBELL explicitly, or where the manufacturer’s approval has to be documented. We supply it on the terms set out above.
Where a documented brand is not required, we blend the same class ourselves. Qishanr produces naphthenic mineral refrigeration oils under its GS series, and its mineral oil range covers VG 100, at its own plant in Foshan, Guangdong. The official cross-reference table covers the POE grades, so this page matches the class and the base oil type rather than quoting a named equivalent grade for this oil. We confirm the match against your unit before you commit. Send the compressor model, the refrigerant and the volume, and the quote will carry both options.
A: HBR-A01 is HANBELL’s naphthenic mineral refrigeration oil for Hanbell rotary screw compressors, used where the compressor documentation specifies a mineral charge. It is the mineral counterpart to the POE HBR-B series, at 100 cSt at 40 °C.
A: 100 cSt at 40 °C and 8.4 cSt at 100 °C, both from the manufacturer’s data sheet and measured by ASTM D445. The 40 °C figure falls inside the ISO VG 100 band of 90–110 cSt.
A: It is a naphthenic mineral oil. The HBR-B series is synthetic polyol ester (POE). The two are not interchangeable, and which one a system takes is set by the compressor manufacturer’s specification.
A: A mineral refrigeration oil of the same class is the like-for-like choice; send us the compressor model and the oil you are replacing and we will confirm the match.
A: Those figures on the manufacturer’s data sheet do not reconcile with the sheet’s own viscosity values: they are identical to the figures published for HANBELL HBR-B09, an oil of nearly twice the viscosity. The table above carries the rows that reconcile.
A: Oils of the same type and viscosity are compatible and can be mixed. Mineral and ester oils are not interchangeable. If you do not know what is currently in the system, send us the compressor model and we will confirm the base oil type and the changeover procedure first.
A: 5 US gallon (18.9 L) pails, with custom pack formats quoted as an item. There is no fixed minimum order — the figure is confirmed per order, because the grade, the quantity, the pack size, the shipping terms and the container load all move it.
A: Both. The original HANBELL HBR-A01 is the right choice where the specification names it or the compressor is under warranty; where a documented brand is not required we blend the same class from our own naphthenic mineral line in Foshan, China.

This oil is manufactured and supplied by Guangzhou Qishanr Technologies Co., Ltd., trading as the brand QISHANR. The company is based in Foshan, Guangdong, adjacent to Guangzhou Port, and has been producing lubricants for more than 10 years from its own blending plant. That plant runs at an annual capacity of 6,000 tonnes, which is what allows us to hold stock on the grades we list and quote firm lead times rather than promising on behalf of a third party.
Refrigeration oils are the core of the business, but they are not the whole plant. The same lines produce general industrial lubricants, so a mixed enquiry that covers both refrigeration oils and ordinary industrial grades can be quoted, packed and shipped together instead of being split across suppliers.
This is not the full range. Specialised ester base oils and lubricant additives are produced in-house as well, which is the reason the synthetic ester grades can be specified to a target rather than bought off a shelf. If the grade you need is not listed above, send the specification or the product you are replacing and we will confirm whether we produce it.
Long-term partners get pricing that reflects a stable manufacturing base rather than a trading margin, and the same technical contact stays with the account from grade selection through to repeat orders.
Send your compressor or unit model, the refrigerant, the oil you are replacing and the quantity you need. We will confirm the base oil type and the grade and come back with pricing, pack size and lead time.
